BREAKING: YANKEES FIND PERFECT A-ROD REPLACEMENT (ON THEIR BENCH)

The Yankees have identified the ideal candidate to play third base until Alex Rodriguez returns from his broken hand.  The guy is a solid veteran who can play reasonably good defense and can hit righty pitching at a reasonably good clip.  Additionally, he has some power.

Ok, it's clear I'm referring to Eric Chavez.  If Chavez was currently playing for the Cubs or Astros, he would be the Yankees target to fill in for A-Rod.  A solid veteran that wouldn't cost too much money and could be had in a trade for a couple of low level prospects (unlike the house San Diego is asking for Chase Headley).

Guess what, he is on the team!!!

Granted that A-Rod's salary is aggregiously inflated when compared to his fading talents, but, when he returns in September/Playoffs, he will certainly play.  Trading prospects for a player who will be sitting on the bench when it counts most is waste when an ideal candidate for that roll is already on the team.

Stay put on 3B Mr. Cashman!
