Chin Ming Wang has been just so-so through 4 innings. His slider is so different than his classic sinker that even bad ones fool hitters. He is still leaving some sliders up. I wonder if he is being over aggressive to try to get the most out of his 80 pitches. That may be working against him.
Pelfrey was horrific through 3+. He just did not have anything going and was all over the place.
Dontrelle Willis had a very odd line today against the Red Sox.
Detroit
---------- IP - H - R - ER - BB - K - WHIP - ERA
D. Willis 2.1 - 0 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 3 - 1.64 - 6.84
interesting title:
ReplyDeleteWang era for today: 10.80
Wang for season: 14.46
Pelfrey for season: 4.85
by the measuring stick applied to wang, pelfrey must be hall of fame stock, given his era is a third
willis, on the other hand, was the victim of crappy bullpen support, as five walks with no hits = no more than 2 runs, by simple math. therefore, whoever replaced him allowed lots of inherited runners to score
to the first comment:
ReplyDeletedude, ur an idiot.
TODAY, Pelfrey sucked!
i really hope manuel is smart enough to skip redding in the rotation (unless maine is still sick). Redding sucks and they can use the rainout to their advantage!
ReplyDeletei'd stick with hughes for a few more starts, and see how wang does from the pen.
