The Yankees are getting thinner by the day. First it was A-rod, now it is Nady and Matsui, what's next?
The Yankees have had the age old question of age (pun intended) over the past number of seasons and this appears to be no different. Aside from Wang's incapability of throwing a decent slider thus far and the patheticness of the middle relief corps (not that any other team is good in middle relief either), the main worry among Yankee fans must be the injuries. Cano is playing well and so are Jeter, Melky and Posada, Tex is heating up and Swisher is hitting out of his shoes; however, all of those positive notes are meaningless if the Yankees don't remain healthy at the core.
As far as the Mets are concerned, Johan needs to pitch as much as possible because the other starters are ALL shaky. In fact, the second most sure thing is Livan Hernandez simply based on expectations. All that is asked of him is to eat innings and that is a virtual guarantee. The middle three are the key to the season and so far, they have been very shaky.
I'll have a report on Yankee Stadium after my Sunday visit.

the mets need to win as many games as possible in order to make the postseason. If there pitching, hitting, and defense, is not good it will become very difficult for them to win games to put them in the playoffs.
ReplyDeletethanks for the logic dude!
ReplyDeleteMy issue with Manuel is that he doesnt pitch Santana every 5th day but rather keeps him in rotation. that basically can be an extra 2-3 starts a year thta we're NOT getting from Johan!
ReplyDeleteMets have a lot invested in Johan. they dont want him broken so soon in the contract period.
ReplyDeletenot sure i understand Dani's comment.
