Against another team's ace, not too many runs could be expected. However, the pitching was certainly there with Santana and then some solid relief led by Putz and K-rod was the winning formula for the Mets on opening day.
It is good to see that Ryan Church got off to a good start because he deserves a shot to win his job back after playing really well - pre-concussion - last year.
Even though it is opening day and winning is nice, that K-rod celebration is very annoying to watch. Yes, Joba and Paps do it as well, but he gets a little more excited.

I don't think K-rod gets any more excited than Joba, especially considering Joba does that after the 8th inning - not the game. It's also less of a celebration that when John Sterling calls a mid May win vs the Royals!
ReplyDeleteOne negative with this game was all the LOBs. They can't keep doing that.
If Sheff is in right, Mets probably don't win this game. He wouldnt have made that diving catch which turned into a DP that Church made.
Santana was great, bullpen was just what Minaya ordered back in December, and as I said on Facebook today, I have a man-crush on Daniel Murphy!
