I have a number of thoughts about the game:
First, AJ Burnett seemed incapable of making an out pitch as he only had 2 strike outs. He obviously lacked control but his stuff was clearly moving. He only gave up 3 hits but the 7 walks were painful to watch.
Second, the homerun issue with Posada in the 8th took forever. It was quite irritating that the big board at Yankee Stadium failed to show a single replay during the ridiculously long 8 and a half minute break. The umps met on the field for a few minutes before going to the replay - what were they waiting for?
Third, I have never seen a luckier bases clearing double than Cody Ransom's in the 8th.
Now, for the stadium comments:
-The line to get into the Yankee Museum was beyond long.
-The Yankees need a few people to spill lots of beer and a bunch more to pee on the floor to get that old Yankee Stadium smell back.
-The concession area is extremely close to the seats (that is phenomenal).
-Most of the loge is no longer covered by the upper deck which gave our seats a minor league feel because the stadium felt smaller.
-There is a heater over the urinals which makes for a nice experience.
-There were plenty of people working for the team to help with the confusion of finding seats and other amenities.
There is obviously a home run galore issue that may need to be dealt with. 20 home runs in 4 games is a very high number and the Yankees need to resolve the issue. It is likely a wind issue, but resolving the problem may be very complex.
Yaros
And Citi Field is the opposite. Its basically impossibe to hit the ball out to centerfield
ReplyDeletewell, at least the mets designed the right kind of stadium for their -aside for santana- mediocre pitching staff.
ReplyDeleteNew stadium is house that Arod built. NYY have a lot invested in Arod breaking BB's record (both had help)-- hopefully he can hit to right.
ReplyDeleteBesides i believe that fans enjoy a high scoring game more than a pitcher's duel.
