Kobe vs. LeBron

Kobe scored 61, was cheered for the whole 4th quarter, and received some loud MVP chants from the crowd throughout the game.
LeBron scored 52 and was not cheered to the exuberant degree that Kobe was. For some reason, Kobe gets greater fan adulation than LeBron. The question is: Why?

  1. for one, kobe plays for the lakers who have a much more expansive fan base.

additionally, e/t james has been a tromendous player, he still is a rather young player in this league. whether he is better than kobe is debatable. but he is still playing in kobe's shadow.

  2. Kobe scored 61 points and James scored 52. that's a 9 point difference, isn't that like questioning why a guy who averages 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 asists a game, is being cheered for mvp while a guy averagin 21 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist, isn't being cheered? It's math folks.
