Why would Grant Balfour pitch in this game? The guy has pitched terribly the entire playoffs and didn't deserve a pitch in this game. Madden and Torre can both apparently royally mess up bullpen usage.
Props to the Phillies for winning, their pitching really did them well. Cole Hamels has swept the MVPs of the playoffs for the National League. When you have an ace like that, things can really be a lot easier.
They are a gutsy team. They squeaked by the Mets and basically cruised through the playoffs.
Lastly, an honorable mention to the Rays for having an unexpected outstanding season!
Yaros
goes to show you what the mets could have done if they had any sort of bullpen. santana is better than any pitcher on the rays phillies or dodgers for that matter. oh well, at least that sucky baseball season is over.
ReplyDeleteon other things i like the fact that at least d'antoni has the guts not to succumb to the garden crowd's call for steph. finally a coach who has a plan and will stick to it no matter the situation.
I agree with angentsmith about the mets and santana - thats what makes the phillies winning so frustrating. I truly believe the mets were the better team. But the phillies desereved their win.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree abuot balfour - he's been so big for them all season and was already in the game from monday. I had more of an issue with howell hitting and then pitching to burrell when bradford was just brought in for the next batter anyway
how did philly winning the world series precipitate a headline for the rays in your blog!!!???
ReplyDeleteyou have no right to ever criticize the style and technique of any other commentator/radio guy - at least they get the news right!
