The Jets played okay this week offensively (basically, they did what they had to do) but certainly did not look spectacular. Brett Favre looked good on some throws and had solid protection; however, he did make 1 pretty bad throw that was picked at the goal line (the throw to Coles was really under thrown and equivalent to a great punt) and fumbled for a TD.
The key to the game was the ineptitude of the Bengals offense (specifcally the run) and the dominance of the Jets defense - led by Kris Jenkins. The line didn't allow anything significant to the point that the Bengals running backs had a combined 20 yards on 15 carries. That is an embarrassment to professional (or Pee Wee) football!
Notes:
The Jets Special Teams is also starting to really click. The coverage today was superb and Leon Washington is a great return man.
The Jets give a shout out to the Chargers and Texans for beating New England and Miami respectively. This is a wide open division!

Jenkins is by far the jets mvp thus far. the pass defense still sucks but its amazing how much better the run defense is this year.
ReplyDeletesince you must have watched a different game than i did, the jets offense is god-awful!!! favre was making pennington type passes yesterday, and the jets completely blew it in allowing the bengals to stay close. talk about closing up shop early and praying for the best. so while the defense was solid, all jets fans should be thankful that carson palmer wasn't playing, because had he played, the jets would have been embarrassed.
