Let's consider these facts:
1. The Rangers have no forward or defensemen in the top 20 in their respective categories.
2. They are grossly over-paying Drury and Redden.
3. They lost Jagr and Shanahan: 40-50 goals right there.
4. They have no fixed line combinations yet.
So what is up with the 10-2-1 Rangers?
1. They are playing more of a team game. They are not relying on one or two players like they were with Jagr & Co.
2. The team is younger and faster.. Their average age is one of the lowest in the league.
3. Zherdev has sick skills. If he develops any sort of consistency, look out!
4. Perhaps the biggest reason of all for their strong start is King Henry. He is playing in Vezina form from the get go.

They shoudlve resigned michael nylander two years ago and not signed gomez, they couldve gotten hossa for the same money. Drury has alot of intangibles but hes not a first line center. Wade Redden 5 years ago was good, not anymore.
ReplyDeleteIn big spots Lundqvist dissaperars. They need a number one Defensmen which Redden no longer is, hes an improvement but they will eventually be in cap trouble
i disagree about nylander bc of his age at that point. he wanted 4 yrs.

they will be in cap trouble esp. when it comes to keeping dubinsky staal and zherdev.
