AJ Burnett is pitching in his classic dominant yet inefficient day. He has only given up 4 hits through 6 innings; however, his pitch count is high and his walk total is as well.
He always manages to get out of trouble without giving up a big hit. In fact, his stuff is so good that in 4 of his last 10 starts, he has given up more walks than hits. That is a curious number that could be really bad (Oliver Perez has gone 4/10 in that stat as well - but, allows far more of those runners to score).
Burnett has had 9 quality starts in his last 10. If only Burnett could throw strikes more consistently and not go from 1-2 to 3-2 so much with sliders over a left handed hitter's back foot.
Just to note, Perez has 2 quality starts in his last 10.
