What ever happened to that MVP talk?
Since pulling his hammy on June 2nd, he has hit to a .205 clip (27/132) with 6 homers and 17 RBIs.
His production for the season's first week (HRs and RBIs) was greater than his production for the entire month of June.
Clearly, the guy is hurting. His batting average has dropped from .322 to .275 since the injury. His OPS has dropped from a fabulous 1.005 to .892.
The guy is clearly injured and needs to be looked at further. If they want the real Evan Longoria for the stretch run, a stint on the DL might not be a bad move.
He has not shown himself to be comfortable as the DH (he is 0-10 this season - granted, not a large sample) and could probably use some rest for the hamstring. Those injuries don't magically disappear.
