Halladay To Mets Not Happening at the Moment!

According to Jon Heyman of SI, the Mets have outright rejected the proposed trade of 4 Met prospects including the beloved Fernando Martinez (wasn't Lastings Milledge also beloved) and pitching prospects Bobby Parnell and Jon Niese along with SS Rueben Tejada.

The Mets always overrate their prospects (Bill Pulsipher) as do the Yankees (Ian Kennedy) and trading for Halladay is probably worth what the Mets have to offer.

Here is the problem: The Mets think the world of a lot of prospects that never get anywhere, the Wilpon family lost tons of money with Bernie "Made-Off with Your Money" Madoff and Halladay would not come to the Mets because they are not in the running for a ring this year.

Halladay will probably end up with the Phillies or Dodgers because those 2 teams seem to have the most to offer and can pay the big bucks. Halladay may look for an extension in the CC range, so whatever team gets him better expect to open the wallet big time.

It's hard to believe that Halladay will stay a Blue Jay after reports of the team offering trades have been leaked.

  1. First of all....how did you get sponsors??????

I have mixed feeling about this no-trade. I don't think any of the 4 guys are gunna be All Stars...maybe F-mart can develop into that - he's too young to be judged for what he did this year. But Mets are going nowhere this year and Halladay could bolt after 2010. So he'd probably want a 4 or 5 year deal for 2011, when he'll be 34. He's only thrown 150 innigs 5 times in his career - that tells me there's a history of arm problems. I also wouldn't be surprised if thanks to Madoff, the Mets just don't have the money.
All i'm saying is that the trade isnt really a slam dunk so i dont blame Omar (for this...plenty of other things to blame him for)
