In reality, the Mets have built up enough of a comfortable lead in the division (3 games) to not find it disastrous if they lose 2 of 3 to the Phillies this weekend.
On a positive note, the likelihood of the Mets getting swept just got much lower as the weatherman said that Tropical Storm Hanna will whip through the northeast on Saturday. Therefore, there will be a double-header (in all likelihood) on Sunday (1pm and 8pm) and the odds of getting swept in a double-header are remote as teams generally don't play their starting lineup in both games. All that is good news for the Mets as they make their charge that will likely lead to a division championship. It shouldn't have been this hard for the Mets to take the division, but they are finally putting their act together under Jerry Manuel.

mets have the pitching advaltage Fri and Sunday (santana is great in the 2d half) so taking 2/3 is very likely. wonder how the mets wud be doing under randolph
ReplyDeleteI think Damon is about to start a big run and next year I think he'll hit at least .315 after his succesful end of this season.
ReplyDeleteAs I predicted they would not lose the double header!
