Santana Halves Manuel's Blood Pressure

The Mets cruised to victory tonight against the lowly Nationals as the Mets managed a pathetic split of the 4 gamer in D.C.

Santana's easy 7 innings and a comfortable lead enabled Jerry Manuel to sit in the dugout and not ware out his completely out of place sneakers (who wears sneakers to a baseball game?).

Thank you Reuters. Jerry, if you wear the high socks, you gotta get some cleats! Sorry, just a pet peeve!

Moving on, Philly won behind Cole Hamels, but the Brew Crew lost so the Mets have extended that lead.

Notes: Evan Longoria has officially clinched the AL Rookie of the Year award. Tonight he has 3 homers and is clearly as talented as the hype had predicted last year - congrats in advance.

  1. should trhe mets be happy with santana being 14-7. as joe euripedes pointed out earlier the mets are paying toomuch for talent as measured by cost/win. i thought those were gr8 stats to see. thanks for sharing them joe.

  3. Santana is 14-7 but with Rivera or Papelbon in the pen he'd be 19-7.

Glad that Johan didnt have to go 170 pitches.

Did you see Brewers today??? Blew a 4 run 9th inning lead. Things COULD be worse!!

Yaros, you made fun of me hwen I drafted Longoria! I'm a big fan!
