Plax has been of great help on the field. He caught the game winning TD pass in the Super Bowl, he enables other receivers to have big games because he is such a talent and he makes great plays when given the opportunity.
But when do the Giants say enough to the crap Burress tries to pull off the field. The guy is making more money this year than any 10 people I can pull off the street combined! Build your own freaken club in your huge suburban backyard so you don't need to carry an unregistered (thus illegal) gun when you party.
I understand that everyone is allowed to lead their own lifestyle; however, why would someone with any rational thought decide that carrying an illegal gun to a club is wise? Players get into trouble because of 2 main factors - guns and clubs. Plax enjoyed both last night and he ended up with a bullet in his thigh.
It is moronic to do the things he does, to act the way he does, to waste the amount of talent he does, to embarrass himself the way he does and to party at the places he does (with certain 'toys' that he brings along).
With regards to this year, THE GUY GOT SHOT IN THE LEG AT LITERALLY POINT BLANK RANGE! He is not playing for a couple of weeks. Then, a league suspension for carrying the gun will likely ensue. Basically, Burress is likely done for the year.
As for next season and beyond, he is probably out of New York at this point; however, due to his talent and recent contract, he may get one more shot. I have confidence (based on past performance) that Burress will screw up in the near future - kinda pathetic, but true!

Giants lose key players and they get better. Last year they lose Tiki and Shockey. This year they've lost Strahan, Umeniyora and now Burress. And they keep getting better. And to think at this time last year, all Giants fans wanted Tom Coughlin fired. He should be coach of the year if the Giants finish 14-2 or 15-1. It won't happen though since a coach will never win that award the year AFTER winning a title.
ReplyDeletethe real blow wouldn't be burress - their offense has been fine without him. however, if pierce is suspended for his role in what happened, that would be a problem because he's a major defensive leader
ReplyDeletePierce won't be suspended. He really had no major role in it. He was just there. And he went straight to the cops, and has been cooperating.
