Is CC Worth The Money?

Well, the obvious answer is, it depends -

Here are the negatives...

1) Most pitchers can't throw the way he did at the end of last season and come out with more than half a working arm. The Brewers had the right to use him until his arm fell off (and based on the saying, until his leg fell off as well) because they paid an arm and a leg for a guy the Brewers knew they would only have for 1 year.

NOW THAT, IS THE YANKEES WORST NIGHTMARE!

So, back to other reasons he is not worth upwards of $150 million+ money.

2) Sabathia has pitched to an outstanding 2-3 record in the playoffs with a whopping 7.92 ERA. Don't tell me that he has gotten better with age, because in his last 3 playoff seasons, he has given up 20 earning in just 19 playoff innings.

3) He is not better than Santana, so he doesn't deserve more money.

NOW, the top 3 reasons he is worth the money,
1) He is, without a doubt, an ace. He will certainly lead a staff during the regular season (he and Wang could combine for more losses in the post season than in the regular season. Um, that was just a joke)

2) The magic he was able to pull last year (1.65 ERA with Brewers) deserves him the reward of a massive deal.

3) The Yankees look stupid for not getting Santana for Hughes, Melky and Ian Kennedy and are trying to make up for the mistake. In other words, the Yankees want him!

Reasons 4 through 10 are...

4-10 - up to infinity) THE YANKEES WANT HIM BADLY!

  1. i always thought sabathia was a bit over-rated. I know in cleveland weight was always an issue. if you look at his stats there many of his seasons were less than stellar. maybe hes coming into his prime. at 28 thats a bit late, for that kind of money, anyway.

its a rangers type of move...over-paying for the best player on the market at that time...

  2. Just look at the way he pitched and his record in the AL before he went to Milwaukee in '08.
