Joba Chamberlain has told various newspapers that he intends on pitching within a month. This is directly counter to Buster Olney's prediction as well as the prediction of many others who assumed that the Yankees' management would end Joba's season. They are very cautious with young pitchers and have likely considered telling Joba to start preparing for spring training. Joba's open comments the press indicate that he has no intention of waiting until March to pitch. At this point, unless there is a serious setback, it would be very awkward for the Yankees to tell Joba that he can not pitch at all this year.
