The pitching has been okay this series, yet the inexperienced pitchers of the Twins masterfully controlled the Yankees line up. I think we are watching a serious downturn in the Yankees 15 year dominance. I am not giving up; however, I am only hanging on by a thread. I have that N.Y. Jets feeling in my stomach about this year's team. That sickening feeling of wasted talent (I did not have that feeling last year with the Jets and it was most prevalent during the 2nd half of the Jets-Broncos playoff games a few years back and the disgraceful display Doug Brien put on in Pittsburgh).
The remaining question is whether this is a blip on the radar or the end of the dynasty. Hank himself said that "we will win next year". That tells you something - he gave up.

Yaros, and i am a yanks guy, sorry but time to bag the season. the only players on the yankees right now that can take a pass are mussina, abreu, damon, and nady. every one else expecially cano should be ashamed of themselves. the fans usually care more than the players so they probably arn't. anyway, go #4.
ReplyDeleteAs evidence from the mets historic collapase last year, anything can happen in the last few weeks of the season, especially with so many divisional games. And why did you leave Arod off the list? .312 with 27hr and 71rbi with .600 slugging and .400 obp isnt good enough? He's not the mvp, but hes clearly having a solid year. cano has been streaky, and can get hot for a few weeks, and so can pudge and giambi. Yes, they will need some help from TB and Boston, but I wouldnt count the yanks out just yet.
ReplyDeletehmmm..if you have'nt realized by now, its been only five years, that a-rod is a classic compiler. i'd venture to say that at least 450 of his 500+ homeruns are when his team was up or down by five runs. who went 0 for the series in texas, blew a chance to tie the game last night .. again. A-rod may put up gaudy numbers when all is said and done but it doesnt tell have the picture. I'll take manny(ramirez)over him in a big spot any day.
ReplyDeleteam - your very wrong about A-rod. Your a classic A-rod basher who neglects to see his game winning homer from two nights ago and expects too much from him. He is the best player in the league, but is still human. Last year alone he had 9 9th inning home runs. For you to say that 90% of his home runs have been meaningless is sheer stupidity.
ReplyDeleteRapps - a quarter of the season is left. You are correct, the definitely still have a good shot. But they need to start playing much better!
