A few notes from the Yankee game:
-Having lost 6 of 8 on the road trip and Darrell Rasner pitching on Wednesday, the Yankees may be playing their way completely out of contention!
-Speaking of Rasner, he is pitching because Ian Kennedy has not found favor in the eyes of Joe Girardi (of course that is completely his own doing). Kennedy was supposed to be a successful back of the rotation pitcher this year - he has been a sorry disappointment.
-It should be illegal for Melky, Justin Christian and Pudge to play in the same game. They are batting a combined .175 since August 1st (10/57). That is pathetic and kills the lineup. Melky could survive as a ninth hitter and excellent center fielder - but Justin Christian should not even get the occasional start - but he can be this year's Homer Bush (Runner and Defensive replacement - that's about it).

Girardi's way too obsessed with lefty-lefty matchups. It's one thing to put Sexson and his great numbers against lefties in the lineup instead of Giambi, but Christian (or Melky) instead of Damon was retarded. And out of the 4 hits we did manage to get, lefty Abreu had 2.
ReplyDeleteSexson has not played to well here - but he is worth the money they pay him.
ReplyDeleteThe point about lefties playing against Glen Perkins is all the more true considering his lefty righty splits are...BAA against right handed hitters is .279 and against lefties it is .353 . Apparently Girardi forgot to look at the stats before making his lineup.
