For some reason the Yankees are refusing to bring up Ian Kennedy to start for Joba. It is unclear why (other than the idea that he was terrible at the beginning of the year). He has been pitching relatively well in the minors. The Yanks may pick up Livan Hernandez, who was recently waived by the Twins to give a roster spot to Liriano. Livan will give up 4 or 5 runs a game, but he does eat innings and will give up those runs in 7 or 8 innings each game.
Speaking of Joba, he likely hurt himself when landing on his right shoulder while getting out of the way of a Pudge fastball to second base that would have hit Joba in the face. Unfortunately, the play did not count as the second base umpire changed the call.
After watching the replay a dozen times, the ball definitely hit Kinsler's leg, BUT HE WAS NOT IN THE BOX. Kinsler should have been called out!
