The mediocre USA team created news this afternoon: After the team was hit by pitch 5 times in the first 6 innings, a player tagging up from third base completely clobbered the Chinese catcher (who did not have the ball) in Roy Williams fashion. All the catcher's equipment went flying and the Chinese manager (an imported American) got tossed (something that rarely happens in Olympic baseball). The USA player clearly intended on hitting the catcher; however, he himself was hit twice and it is hard to blame him for the lack of sportsmanship.

i would hope that our players would always exhibit good sportsmenship. based on your report our team could've performed better in this regard.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct. The player was a young guy who let his emotions get the best of him. I guess those 2 HBP knocked his brain around a bit.
